Talismaani is a collection of contemporary Finnish plywood jewelry inspired by historical animal talismans used for their magical qualities in ancient Nordic culture.

The project got its start through a Aalto University course in collaboration with the National Museum of Finland. The pieces were designed as a graphic informative product, then lazercut at Fablab and assembled by hand. The challenge was to design something aesthetic and historically informative, yet simple and cost-effective enough to be a viable product in the museum shop.

The end result ia a geometric, contemporary design produced with modern techniques from traditional local materials. The collection was sold at the National Museum of Filnand from 2015 to 2021.
